Published NPS and TPWD requirements
- Lake Meredith has no entrance fee; its annual NPS ORV permit is currently free.
- A Texas OHV decal is also required. TPWD publishes a $16 decal valid September 1–August 31.
- NPS permits run January 1–December 31, so the federal permit and state decal have different renewal dates.
Confirm reopening before travel
Normal park access is year-round, subject to closures. An October 2, 2026 KFDA report said NPS closed Rosita Flats after flooding; reopening was not confirmed in the official sources reviewed October 30. Call Lake Meredith at 806-857-3151 before hauling. Unregistered OHVs cannot operate in camping zones from 10pm–6am unless otherwise posted.

KEEP THE GOOD PLACES OPEN
Know the ground rules.
- Stay on designated unvegetated routes and within posted riding boundaries; do not create trails or drive through vegetation.
- NPS requires DOT-approved helmets and eye protection for riders; ATVs also require a whip and flag. Check the complete equipment standards before arrival.
- Observe zone limits: 20 mph in beginner zones, 15 mph in camping zones, and posted road limits.
- Vehicles with wheel width over 65 inches are excluded from Resource Protection Zones. Hunting zones have seasonal restrictions.
- Do not drive in isolated pools disconnected from the flowing river. Keep glass beverage containers out of the riding area.
