This Honda Rincon monster comes straight off the showroom floor customized by the technicians at Al Lamb's Dallas Honda. But don't expect to pay the retail $7849
for this baby. It is retailing at $13,000 out the door. The salesman I spoke with said that he has had several rednecks try to buy it but ended up with credit problems.... That does not say much for us here in Texas.
Sixteen inches of ground clearance after the fuzzy math is added up, and keep in mind that this quad has independent suspension all the way. What that means is you have sixteen inches in the front and the back, I wish we could get this kind of clearance with a Rubicon.
I was not able to test drive it for obvious reasons but I did ask how the rincon handled the larger tires with the lift giving its "low end" issues. Suprisingly they say it had plenty of low
end pull. But I am still hesitant to believe them. You practically have to climb onto this beast and once saddled up you can then enjoy the commanding view. My experience thus far has mainly been with rear single axle machines so having this much ground clearance and being this tall would be
a real nice treat as we love to hit thoose deep holes in Texas and this one is possibly tall enough that you may not even need to snorkel it. Well....yeah it still needs to be snorkel's, I forgot my audience for a sec.
Lets talk about the components that turned this thing into a monster. You may be thinking several parts, but only a lift kit, and wheels/tires. The lift components you need to make this happen on a Rincon and several other ATV's can be purchased from Gorilla Axle. This 6 inch lift kit retails for $2500 bucks and contains the longer axles, CV joints, A Arms, lower arms, mounting hardware, and directions(hopefully).
The added components come with a one year warranty, but if I were you check with your dealership to insure it will not void factory warranty that is if its a newer bike. He did mention that someone twisted an axle during the Mud Nationals with this kit and Gorilla did warranty it. So that tells me it may affect the durability a little, but still cool nonetheless.
The kit does make the handling quite a bit more of a chore as far as turning, so may have to settle for the Recon for Grandma.
The tires are none other than 30 inch ITP Mudlite XXL's along with some ITP aluminum Rims. These tires are an awesome match for the Rincon and they look as well as perform great. It is good to see products like this available, although the ideal ATV in my eyes still is not available commercially. It needs to have the low end of a Rubicon, with stiff all around independent suspension. Honda, Why have you not made that yet? Although, the clearance is there which is always an important factor, the low end power of the Rincon
will most likely give you a hard time if you were to get into the thick stuff, or needed to pull someone out, etc..... Hope you enjoyed the write up my email is info@txmud.com
